Ragnar Kjartansson and Guido van der Werve in TAKE TIME OUT

Ragnar Kjartansson, Me and My Mother 2010, 2010, Single-channel video, Duration: 19 minutes 59 seconds

All four versions of Ragnar Kjartansson's Me and My Mother and Guido van der Werve's Nummer negen, the day I didn't turn with the world are currently on view in "TAKE TIME OUT: Time, repetition, and slowing down," a group exhibition at the Center for Contemporary Arts in Celje, Slovenia.

Featured alongside works by Patrick Bernatchez, Meta Grgurevič, Anja Jelovšek, Davor Sanvincenti, Tomo Stanič, Ana Straže, and Matej Andraž Vogrinčič, "TAKE TIME OUT" offers the viewer an experience of time that deviates from his usual perception in everyday life. It focuses on artworks in which time stops, repeats, extends and deepens, particularly through the strategies of repetition and slowing down, so that it becomes almost tangible matter, the opposite of linear time, and the complete opposite to the speeded-up time created by Western society. The exhibition presents works that almost allow the viewer to step into time, to almost see it and feel it, on works that intensify the awareness of time through their structure as well as special subtle, poetic and emotional atmosphere.
